Waiting... (2005)

4/5 stars

This movie is amazing. Completely fantastic comedy. Best of all, it was written by an actual waiter who somehow got the script into the right hands and, a few years later, its an independent film that made more in opening weekend than they spent on the making of the movie!! Crazy, but true.

It revolves around the employee's of Shinanigan's (a restaurant much like TGI Friday's or Applebee's) and covers one day of their lives. It just so happens that they're training a new server/employee that day, so we are getting introduced to their games, characters, etc as the new guy is. Good stuff. It star's so many cool celebrities in it that it would take forever to list, but just know that everyone is cast very well and the chemestry between them really seems like many work situations I've been in. It's pretty real to life, and extremely funny.

Dropping the names of the actors would take forever, but its impressive. Just a few big names are: Ryan Renolds, Justin Long, Luis Guzman, and Anna Faris. The actors cast for their parts do very well and the chemistry between them seems very real.

The biggest thing that impressed me about this movie was the cinimatography. When the restaurant is in dull/normal hours, the camera's are on tripod's and only the character's move around them. It gives the watcher a feeling of it being slow and laidback. But, when it gets to the dinner rush, the camera's go handheld/mobile, and they move with the actors. It gives the film a more rushed and busy feeling when it needs it, and that style of filming really adds to this film.

It's a funny movie but has no real depth... and what depth it has, it also makes fun of (which is typical for a comedy). If ya want to just sit down and watch something that requires little to no thought and that will make ya crack up, check out Waiting...!
