Alien vs. Predator (2004)

1/5 stars

I can't believe I'm reviewing this movie, but I did watch it. And to just get my excuse for watching it off my chest, Dad bought it for real cheap at Wal-Mart and asked if I wanted to see it. Sure, this is the second time I watched it, but seeing it in theatres is excused cause my girlfriend at the time wanted to see it and review it for her school paper. Okay, I feel cleansed now. On to the review.

A team of archeologists stumble upon an underground pyramid via satalites (which pick up each heat signatures). They decide to check it out, and soon we see that there is a Predator ship orbiting earth. It drills the hole to the pyrimid for them (which, in my mind signals "trap! get away!", but to them says "come inside! it's nice and cozy down here!"), and as they decend into the earth, the ship drops three pods; each with a Predator inside. We soon realize that the Predator's have set the trap because humans are needed to breed the Aliens, which provide them with the perfect hunt. That's the movie. Nothing else to it.

The characters are classic of this genre. The movie is done alright, but it just doesn't have anything to set it apart from others... there is no character we can relate with, there's no character development, and only one person survives. The predators kick ass, as usual. The aliens still freak me out. But if ya really want to watch them, see their movies, because this is a piece of crap... whereas the actual Alien and Predator movies are some pretty good flicks.

Unless you absolutely want to see it, I'd say no. Just like D.A.R.E. teaches, don't let peer pressure wear ya down. Stay strong. Keep your dignity... unless your girlfriend (or parents) force you. You should probably listen to them. Otherwise, avoid this movie like it's a rabid chipmunk.
